Perceptions of the benefits of the A3 planner in facilitating project-based learning in accounting education

This paper evaluates ways of instilling project management skills into accounting-based learning by the use of an iterative A3 planner to plan, monitor and review assignment progress. The application of an A3 planner to facilitate a project-based learning (PBL) group assignment in undergraduate accounting education has been critically evaluated in terms of both the student and tutor experience. The study uses a mix of qualitative and quantitative data. Quantitative data assisting exploration of perceptions were collected through 100 undergraduate students. A series of focus group discussions were carried out to investigate students’ engagement and tutors’ teaching experiences regarding the adoption of the A3 planner. The results suggest that the A3 planner promotes active planning and effective management of a PBL group assignment. It makes students’ thought processes more visible thereby facilitating and enhancing the tutoring/mentoring process. Moreover a more interactive and transparent approach by doing assignment via the use of an iterative A3 planner has ensured more feedback points and action based efficiency in the doing approach for learners.

The importance of career goal in relation to academic performance: a case study of hospitality management students

ABSTRACT

Hospitality management programs have commonly offered exclusive learning opportunities to talented students in order to keep “brains” in the industry. While academic performance indices are often used to identify “brains” in the education sector, scant research has empirically examined whether “brains” are intended to stay in the industry. This study surveyed 304 hospitality management students and examined the relationships between their career-goal related factors and academic performance. Findings indicate that career goal and positive job valence toward the hospitality industry are significantly related to academic performance. The results of this study contribute to the limited literature on the relationship between career goal and academic performance.     

Early labor market outcomes of university graduates: Does time to degree matter?

Using university administrative and survey data drawn from the AlmaLaurea Consortium, we analyze the effect of time to degree on the early labor market performance of Italian graduates. The empirical strategy allows identifying separately the impact of elapsed time to degree on the transition from university to work and on earnings from other determinants specific to the academic path completed. Findings suggest that delayed graduation reduces the employment probability (0.8% points for each year of delay), and this effect is still persistent five years after graduation. Once employed, graduates not completing their degree within the minimum period are also penalized in their net monthly earnings, even five years after graduation. The most penalized groups are women and graduates in non-scientific fields.

大学生作为一类特殊的群体,由于自身经验以及知识的局限性,在创业过程中容易遇到各种风险,其中法律风险的是最棘手的。基于问卷调查的数据,分析了大学生创业的特点、现状以及创业过程中潜在的法律风险,并联系实际从高校法律教育角度及学生个人角度,提出了防控大学生创业法律风险的措施。     

高职学生乡村振兴意愿与影响因素研究——基于广东交通职业技术学院的调研分析

乡村振兴战略是党的十九大提出的一项重大战略,其中人才振兴是乡村振兴的基础,但农村客观上存在很多难以短时间解决的困难,青壮年、大学生都倾向于留在大城市工作,人才紧缺已经成为限制农村发展的重要瓶颈,如何让更多的大学生参与助力乡村振兴中的研究具有重要的社会意义和现实意义。本文针对高职大学生群体进行研究,在“互联网+”时代背景下,分析了高职大学生的就业创业特点、参与乡村振兴的意愿动机,和内外部的影响因素等,试图寻找适合当代大学生投身乡村振兴的方法和模式,同时,也从大学生的角度提出了如何建立健全相关的国家、社会和学校的支持体系。

高校“产学研”基地是集教学实践，创新研究、科技成果转化于一体的产业基地，加强产学研协同创新、提升创新能力是科技创新的重大发展趋势，也是推动区域经济发展的重要力量。根据杭州市的战略定位，浙江大学西溪校区应将“产学研”基地建设成为杭州市文化创意产业、科技人才创新创业中心，集工作、生活、休闲为一体，并据此分析“产学研”基地建设的理念、目标及手段。     

大学生学术道德失范行为的剖析与治理

近年来,高校学术不正之风十分严重,学术道德失范行为肆意蔓延,给刚刚步入学术之门的大学生带来了非常恶劣的影响,败坏了学风和校风。本文梳理了大学生学术道德失范行为现状及种种表现,分析了造成大学生道德失范的原因:急功近利的不良社会风气导致大学生学术研究的目的变异,高校学生学术道德监管机制尚不健全,学生自身学术道德修养不高。针对存在的问题,探寻有效措施,端正学风,提升学术主体的道德自律,遏制学生学术道德失范行为。
